The Church- Starfish




The church formed in Australia in 1980, their 1988 album entitled "Starfish" includes some fabulous tunes such as "Reptile", "Hotel Womb" and "Under the Milky Way"(which im pretty sure was featured in Donnie Darko...). if you like dreamy post punk/new wave you'll love this album.

One of my favorite bands of all time. I'd say 'Unguarded Moment' or 'Metropolis' beat the hell out of 'Reptile', as far as best songs go. They really did have a hold on that ethereal 60s inspired guitar sound. I can't think of a band who played Rickenbackers better than the Church...well except for Jonny Marr of course. Another Aussie band not too far off is 'Ups & Downs' who cut a great single in the late 80s called 'In The Shadows'...Cheers!
