Kaaos

i used to be really into finnish punk, im a quarter icelandic so i got down hardbody.

Kaaos is a Hardcore punk band from Tampere, Finland. Formed in March 1980 they were the first Hardcore punk-band in Finland to release a record and though their lineup has changed frequently through the years, the band is somewhat active still today. Only the band's guitarist (who later became the vocalist), Jakke has remained as an original member and grew to become the center figure of Kaaos.

Jakke died on the 29th of November, 2007. He apparently died of alcohol-related causes at the age of 42.

Kaaos has been described as having "the trademark Finnish 80s sound, fast buzzsaw thrash riffs, reverby vocals, all over the place drumming, and plodding bass." Their music defined what HC Punk means for Finns and their EP "Totaalinen Kaaos" released for Propaganda Records became one of the bestselling Finnish EP records ever. Two years later the band released the LP "Ristiinnaulittu Kaaos" on Barabbas Records that was also quite successful.

While their early production focused on the local authorities (the police) they later grew to criticize not only the government but also how different beliefs are used to justify war and the suffering war causes.

The Lurkers

I read this book called smack when I was super young and every chapter started with lyrics from the lurkers, so I have a kinda soft spot for them.
"The Lurkers formed late in 1976, with Arturo Bassick on bass, Manic Esso on drums, Pete Stride on guitar, and Howard Wall on vocals. Despite not being the principal vocalist, Stride was the band’s main songwriter. The band were one of the pioneering punk bands that played live in the first few months of the now-legendary Roxy Club in London. They supported The Jam in February 1977, Eater in March, and Slaughter & The Dogs in April."

Plasmatics

Wendy O. Williams was a goddess amongst swine. she did not give a fuck and you have to respect that. also she was totally gorgeous and terrifying. wikipedia says they were punk but they can argue that all day, they were definately a metal crossover band.

Wendy Orlean Williams, was the lead singer for the punk band the Plasmatics, whose stage theatrics included blowing up equipment, near nudity and chain-sawing guitars.
Dubbed "The Queen of Shock Rock," Williams was widely considered the most controversial and radical woman singer of her day. She often sported a Mohawk haircut. At the age of 16, she hitchhiked her way to Colorado where she earned money selling crocheted string bikinis. She headed for Florida and then to Europe, where she worked as a macrobiotic cook in London and then as a dancer with a gypsy dance troupe. In 1976 she arrived at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City where she saw an ad in Show Business Magazine that lay open on the bus station floor. It was a casting call for radical anti-artist and Yale MFA graduate Rod Swenson's experimental "Captain Kink's Theatre". She replied to the ad and there was immediate chemistry between Swenson, known as Captain Kink, and Williams, which began a 22-year relationship that would see her launched as lead singer of the punk/metal rock group the Plasmatics some two years later. With their debut in New York City clubs in 1978, Williams and the Plasmatics took the underground scene by storm.

GANGOF4

GANG OF FOUR,
they never reached incredible fame, but I can't tell you how many people have copied from them. They also performed alot in the 80s clubs. Live, they're really tight, they sound so close to the actual recordings, very rare. Some people may know them from a song that was on that stupid marie antoinette soundtrack, but they have other great songs.
NOT GREAT MEN
(they are old in this one)

Exploding Hearts

Woo so the Exploding Hearts are a band from Portland, formed in 2001. They released Guitar Romantic in 2003.... which (if you like that sort of thing) is one of those albums where every song is awesome. Unfortunately the same year, 3/4 of the band died in a car crash. One last album was released in 2006 (shattered) afterwards including some unreleased material but still nothing beats Guitar Romantic.
