Bona Drag - Morrissey

As he was toiling on Kill Uncle, Morrissey released Bona Drag, a compilation of singles and B-sides, including "Everyday Is Like Sunday" and "Suedehead" from Viva Hate. While the record conveniently overlooks some rarities, the selections on Bona Drag are uniformly first-rate and many of the songs -- "Picadilly Palare," "Interesting Drug," "November Spawned a Monster," "The Last of the Famous International Playboys," "Lucky Lisp," "Disappointed," "He Knows I'd Love to See Him," and "Ouija Board, Ouija Board" -- are Morrissey classics, arguably making Bona Drag a more consistent and entertaining record than Viva Hate.

For me, Morrissey and Marr were everything in the Smiths. Other than that... Viva Hate is the only truly solid album he ever released. He's done some great tunes, even recently I admit. But it never really got better than his first solo album. Seeing him at Hammerstein was life changing. A true icon, it was like seeing Elvis in real life, or something. Also, it's a little known fact that Mike Joyce was in the Irish band VICTIM before joining up with the Smiths. I have a collection CD, it's not hard to find.

I prefer the first Smiths album over all three! Johnny Marr should be knighted. Greatest british guitar player to ever live.

yea i second that, they really gotta get that knighting business together. johnny marr definitely shouldve gotten knighted way before ian mckellen for playing some dude that walked around with a stick while wearing a tarp around leading around a bunch of short people
